Composite Resin & Porcelain Veneers

Before and After Composite Veneers

Before and After Porcelain Veneers
Veneers are used when you want to whiten and change the shape of your teeth.
The process involves removing a small layer of the front surface of your tooth then cementing a veneer onto the surface to make your tooth look the way you want.
At Dentists of Ivanhoe Central we offer two types of veneer options, Composite Resin veneers or Porcelain veneers.
Porcelain Veneer | Composite Resin |
---|---|
Size, shape and colour are customised specifically for you in our lab | Colour matched using a variety of shades and ideal shape moulded in the surgery |
Will last approximately 10 years | Will last approximately 4-8 years and may need regular maintenance |
Takes a minimum of two dental visits to complete | Takes only one visit to complete |
Are more stain resistant than composite veneers | Composite Resin is more porous than porcelain, therefore has a higher potential for staining and chipping |
Reflect light like natural teeth | Less expensive than porcelain and best suited if re-shaping of teeth is required in the future |
More expensive and usually recommended to achieve the best result | Looks great but inferior to porcelain veneers. |
Once your veneers are set you can continue eating and drinking normally, we recommend normal oral hygiene routine (brushing & flossing) is maintained in order to keep the veneers in optimum condition.
We may even recommend a splint or mouth guard to protect your veneers from grinding at night.
