Wisdom tooth
Wisdom teeth, also known as the third molars, are the last teeth to come through the gums.
With a large percentage of people there is not enough space at the back of the jaw for the wisdom teeth to come through.
This causes the wisdom teeth to become wedged or ‘impacted’. Most of the time these impacted wisdom teeth cause a number of complications such as inflammation/infection, uncomfortable crowding and sometimes damage to adjacent teeth.
Removal of wisdom teeth is a very common procedure and can be done in the chair depending on the positioning of the teeth.
