What’s The Best Way To Clean My Aligners?

It’s best to clean your aligners daily with soap and water using a soft toothbrush. If your aligners become a little stained you could soak them in either denture cleaning tablets (hydrogen peroxide) mixed with water or in white vinegar and water (50:50 mix) for 5 minutes. After soaking gently brush them with a toothbrush and rinse. More Info here

How Do The Aligners Straighten Teeth?

Invisalign aligners straighten teeth by applying controlled, constant pressure on to your teeth to move them into the correct position. (click this link) We may also bond ‘attachments’ (small, tooth coloured blobs of filling material) on your teeth so the aligner can grab on to them and move your teeth.

What Are The Primary Benefits Of Invisalign?

What Are Aligners Made Of, And What Do They Look Like?

Is Invisalign Better Than Traditional Metal Braces?

For most patients, Invisalign can achieve similar results to traditional metal braces. (refer to these case studies) The advantage with Invisalign is that they are far less noticeable and more comfortable than metal braces.

How Will Invisalign Effectively Move My Teeth?

Invisalign aligners will apply specific pressure at certain angles to create the correct movement of your teeth. All of the necessary movements are pre-planned digitally and monitored closely right throughout your journey. More information

How Long Does Treatment Take?

Length of treatment can vary greatly depending on how much movement of your teeth is required. Usually it takes between 6-24 months to complete your treatment.

Will Invisalign Treatment Be Painful?

It is normal to feel mild discomfort while teeth are moving but this does not usually prevent you from chewing and enjoying your food.

How Often Do I Come In For An Appointment?

Once the initial appointments are completed, we would like to monitor your progress every 4-6 weeks.

Can I Just Wear The Aligners While Sleeping?

We recommend that you wear your aligners 22 hours per day. If aligners are worn for less than the recommended time, your teeth may not move as predicted and may not give you the best result.

Are There Restrictions What I Can Eat While Having Invisalign?

As the aligners are removed while you are eating there are no restrictions on your diet. We recommend a healthy, balanced diet of course.

Will The Invisalign Aligners Affect My Speech?

Most people find it takes a few days to get used to the aligners during which time the speech may be slightly affected. After this initial few days of adaptation your speech will return to normal.

Will Smoking Stain The Aligners?

If you smoke while you are wearing your aligners, the nicotine in cigarettes will generally stain the aligners.

Can I Drink Wine And Beer While Wearing My Aligners?

You can have alcohol while wearing your aligners as long as they don’t cause any staining. Generally white wine or beer will not stain the aligners but red wine certainly will leave a dark red stain. Read more

Can I Drink While Wearing My Aligners?

We recommend that you only have cold drinks while wearing your aligners as hot drinks can distort the aligners. It’s best to have clear fluids as coloured drinks can also stain the aligners. (ie, red wine)

Can My Aligners Slip Off While I’m Asleep?

Your aligners tightly fit over your teeth so they won’t slip off at any time.

Can I Chew Gum While Wearing Aligners?

It’s best to remove your aligners prior to chewing gum. Any type of chewing while wearing aligners may damage them.

How Often Must I Wear My Aligners?

We recommend wearing aligners everyday for 22 hours per day. That gives you 2 hours per day to eat and clean your teeth. Read more

Do Invisalign Aligners Contain Bisphenol-A (BPA)?

Based on our current knowledge, Invisalign aligners do not contain Bisphenol-A (BPA)

Will I Need To Wear A Retainer After Treatment To Prevent My Teeth From Moving Again?

We recommend that you wear removable retainers full time (22 hours/day) usually for about six months and then continue wearing them when you sleep for life.

I Currently Have Veneers. Will Invisalign Aligners Work With Them?

You can have Invisalign if you have veneers on your teeth and they will not be affected during the treatment.

I Currently Have Bridgework On Several Teeth. Will Invisalign Still Work?

In most situations we will be able to use Invisalign to move your teeth. However, we will likely not move the teeth with the bridgework

Since Having My Braces Removed, My Teeth Have Shifted. Can Invisalign Fix This?

Invisalign can usually correct and re-align teeth that have shifted.

How Much Will Invisalign Cost? Are Financing Options Available? How Does My Insurance Work?

The cost of Invisalign will vary depending on the severity of the case. Most cases will cost between $6,000-$9,000. We offer interest free payment plan options. If your health insurance cover includes orthodontic cover, you will receive a rebate from them. When you attend our practice we will be able to let you know how much you will get back from your health fund.
