MOUTHGUARDS
In Ivanhoe

If you play contact sports – like AFL, martial arts, or hockey – you may want to consider protecting your most important asset: your teeth. A properly fitted mouthguard can prevent a lifetime of extra dental visits… and pain from your back pocket!

At Dentists of Ivanhoe, we provide custom-made and fitted mouthguards that will help protect your teeth as you engage in aggressive, recreational activities. Teeth are the only body parts that don’t repair themselves, so it’s essential that you minimise risk to your adult teeth with a mouthguard.

Choosing The Right Mouthguard

Whether it’s a collision on the field or a tumble on equipment, you want to be sure your custom-fitted mouthguard will act as a buffer when you experience a direct impact to the lower part of your face.

Constructed by a dental professional, a custom mouthguard will be designed to fit your mouth comfortably. An impression of your teeth will be made into a plaster model to ensure the closest possible fit. You should still be able to talk as normal with the right mouthguard.

FAQ

Here are some frequently asked questions to get to know us better.

After each use, rinse your mouthguard in soap and warm water, and then allow it to air dry. You can sometimes use a mild mouthwash to disinfect it. Store your mouthwash in a well-ventilated plastic container in a cool place. It’s important not to leave it in the car after each use, as the heat can destroy and warp the shape.

The price of a custom-fitted mouthguards depends on your needs. While our Custom-fitted mouthguards are reasonably priced, we highly recommend you get in touch with our dentists to find out the best option for you. Keep in mind that if you don’t have private health insurance and you experience a dental injury, the cost and time of repair is going to be much higher than if you were to invest in a mouthguard.
