Taking Care of Your Aligner Trays to Help Create That Awesome Smile
Everyone knows it is exciting to have their teeth fixed. Your visits to our office are good experiences, and you’re looking forward to the results. Along with all the excitement, you still need to take care of your aligners. Here are several tips we’ve shared with our patients over the years that have helped them get the most out of their Invisalign treatment.
Cleaning
It is essential to keep your Invisalign aligners clean. The toothpaste you use every day is not meant for this purpose because it will end up scouring them and make them look dull. Instead, clean your aligner trays with a soft toothbrush and warm, soapy water.
Your aligners will benefit from a little extra attention to your oral hygiene. Clean your teeth each time you eat. If you cannot do this, rinse your teeth and mouth with mouthwash or water. These habits can help you avoid trapping food particles underneath your aligners which can be a home for bacteria and stinky breath.
Eating
Remove your clear aligners before eating. They should also be removed before you drink hot beverages.
Storage
Storage is important when you want your aligners to stay in good condition. If you have children or pets, keep the aligners out of their reach. Never allow your children to handle or play with the aligners.
Invisalign clear aligners should be kept away from heat. Avoid storing your aligners in the kitchen near your stove, or in direct sunlight, instead, choose a cool, dry place.
Use a storage case when you take your aligners out for eating, drinking or cleaning your teeth. We can provide a case when you receive your aligners. When you make a point of always using the case, your aligners will stay free from dust, germs, and any other contaminants that may be in the air.
These tips may take a little time and effort, but your aligners will be in excellent condition for as long as you need them, allowing them do work their dental magic in building your awesome smile.
