Established in January of 2014, the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) provides access to dental benefits and services for an estimated 3 million Australian children. Who Qualifies for CDBS and Affordable Children Dentist Checkups?
- Those eligible for Medicare. Those children between the ages of 2-17. The child’s family must receive Family Tax Benefit Part A or a relevant Australian Government payment.
What is Covered?
The benefits covered under CDBS are broad, and include a range of preventative, diagnostic and dental treatments. Examples include but are not limited to: Check ups and cleans.
- X-rays. Fissure sealing. Fillings. Exactions. Root canals.
What Isn’t Covered Under CDBS?
- Cosmetic dental work. Orthodontic services.
How Much Can My Child Receive in Dental Benefits?
- Access to up to $1,013 (over 2-consecutive calendar years)
How Can I Register My Child for Free Dental Benefits and Affordable Kids Dental Care?
All residents who qualify for free dental benefits under CDBS will be notified of their eligibility by the Department of Human Services. No applications or registration is required. Those interested in inquiring about eligibility may contact Services Australia or visit the official Services Australia website for more information.
Parents may also check their child’s balance and eligibility through their online Medicare account.
How Do I Access Free Dental Checkups for My Child?
You may take your child for dental care to any public dental clinic in VIC, or receive care through private dental providers.
