Tips To Protect Your Brilliant Smile

Keep Your Teeth Healthy and Strong

If you want your teeth to stay bright and white, it’s not that difficult to achieve. You can avoid dental decay, gum disease and damage to tooth enamel, and show off your beautiful white teeth for years to come. An attractive, bright smile can be yours for the rest of your life.

Choose a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste to brush your teeth twice each day. A better approach is to brush after every meal. Floss at least once per day. Keep your teeth and gums free from germs by using a good mouthwash.

Check and Clean

Never let six months pass without visiting your dentist. If you have a dental problem, or are undergoing dental work, Dr Shehan may want to see you more often.

When you visit Dentists of Ivanhoe Central for the first time, you will know you have found the dental team that cares about you. You’ll feel comfortable in our pleasant environment, and we look forward to seeing each one of our patients.

  • Develop a balanced diet, but avoid products that can harm your teeth and dental work.
  • Find alternatives to foods and drinks that can cause stains.
  • Do not eat hard foods that can damage your dental work.
  • Avoid sticky foods.
  • If certain types of food are difficult to chew and swallow without sticking to your teeth, it may damage your dental work.
  • Eat crunchy vegetables and fruits.

Eating crunchy foods such as raw carrots, cucumbers, and apples help your teeth stay clean. There will be less plaque and bacteria on your teeth when you chew these nutritious  foods. Add some of your favourites to salads and meals, and enjoy them as snacks.

Add more calcium to your diet. Milk is not only for children. It will keep your teeth strong and healthy. Other options include cheese and sugar free yoghurt.

Never be afraid to ask for information and advice. You may want to know more about oral care products, or may be considering a dental procedure. If you do not find answers on our website, you can ask at your next appointment. We are always glad to see you, so give us a ring today.
